Khula Swellendam was started a franchise of Khula Bredasdorp by two moms of neurodivergent kids. After years of walking the mainstream schooling path, they were desperately searching for a schooling solution for their children.
"We immediately loved the concept of Khula Learning Centre in Bredasdorp and in a very short time decided to establish a branch in Swellendam. At the beginning of 2024, we opened our doors with 4 learners in the intermediate phase and today we are 11 learners strong with a foundation phase included. Our team include three amazing teachers, an assistant and us, who help wherever we can with tutoring or support with learning."
While Khula provides holistic developmental and educational support services, please note that we are not a school. We are a tutor centre that offers educational support services to home-schooled learners.
Our children make use of IMPAQ’s academic products and services. IMPAQ is a CAPS-based curriculum that provides an academic framework which allows each learner to work at his or her own pace.
This is especially effective for learners who require more intensive academic support. Learners from grades R – 12 can complete their schooling using IMPAQ’s CAPS-aligned products, but also have the option of returning to a mainstream school at any stage of their schooling career.
We accommodate learners with Apraxia, Dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, developmental delays, sensory processing disorder and low-support Autism from grades 1-10.
Our classes are bi-lingual and we accommodate learners following IMPAQ's curriculum in both Afrikaans and English.
